I drove by this at 6:05....it was awful. I hope everyone involved is ok and that the injuries reported aren't serious or life threatening. The one car I saw was definitely totaled. The UPS truck involved had some extensive damage as well.

Darn it! Was that dinner last night?!? Shoot, I got caught up watching reruns of MASH and missed it. Sigghhh. I guess I'll have to find something else to do with that $35,800 I have burning a hole in my pocket. View Comment
I don't see reports every week about gang-related / turf-related shootings and people being held at gunpoint "everywhere". Let's look at all of the towns/cities in Fairfield county alone.
[Following info courtesy of wikipedia]
Fairfield County is comprised of: Bethel, Bridgeport, Brookfield, Danbury, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Monroe, New Canaan, New Fairfield, Newtown, Norwalk, Redding, Ridgefield, Shelton, Sherman, Stamford, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, Wilton
Are there isolated incidents in these aforementioned towns/cities? I'm sure there are. Are they weekly? Pretty sure they're not. Seems to me that these violent crimes are more prevalent in Thugwalk, Thugford and Thugport.
We know where the main problem is in our wonderful hometown of Norwalk and yet we can't seem to do much about it. Why is that?
You have to ask yourself, too, why are these thugs with huge rap sheets still out on the streets committing repeat crimes? Why aren't they behind bars? I may be wrong, but I believe that the Woodward Avenue shooter from Sunday night was originally held on $100k bond, which I'm told was reduced to $50k bond. So his buddies had to come up with 10% / $5,000 to get him out? Wow. Bet that was real tough. A family had their car window shot out Sunday night and the shooter can walk away for the low low price of $5,000.
I'm still shocked that law-abiding citizens aren't running for the hills right now. Then again, w/ the housing market the way it is and with Norwalk's crime, not to mention the school budget issues, who would come to buy our houses? View Comment
Hey lw... I just find it disconcerting that I once lived in Bridgeport (for 2 years) and found the crime to be way too much for me to hear about constantly so I moved to Norwalk back in 1998. And now I feel like I'm living it all over again.
It was maybe 6 years ago that my husband, who was in a full leg cast and on crutches, and I went to SoNo to catch a movie and while we were waiting to hand over our tickets, a teenager bumped into my husband and started yelling at HIM to watch where he's going and asked my husband (who was looking at him like a deer in headlights w/ his jaw dropped) if he wanted to "take it outside" because he was going to give my husband (in his mid-30's by the way and, again, on crutches) a beat down.
Should've known then that Norwalk wasn't a place I wanted to raise my family with that kind of thug-mentality amongst teenagers. Not all teenagers, of course, but go to the theatre any given Friday night - it's not pretty. The last time we went on a Friday night, dozens of them were yelling across the theatre at each other while the movie was playing. I finally had enough after 20 or so minutes, knowing we were outnumbered, we just left and asked the manager for a refund. The police officer who was trying to maintain decorum inside the theatre just gave up. The manager's advice, "Don't come here on a Friday night". That is really pathetic.

I'd have to echo your sentiments. With my 1st child about to enter the Norwalk school system next month, I don't know, I'm not too happy with these results. View Comment
Hey Ken - there's already too much 'shooting' in Norwalk - how about we 'send' him some emails? [wink]
In all seriousness, I hope they can help turn this city around. I'm really getting more and more fed up every day with the violence. If my parents, who live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY, ever heard how much gun violence we had in Norwalk - where I'm raising their 2 small grandchildren - they'd have heart attacks. I try to keep them sheltered so they're not sick with worry every day. View Comment
Jack Chiaramonte: "May I ask you a question?"
Andrew Fleischmann: "No you may NOT ask me a question, I am the chairman of this committee...."
I say to Andrew Fleishchmann - your arrogance is not appreciated at all and to be honest, it makes you quite ugly.
I have to say thank you to Jack Chiaramonte for going up to Hartford to fight for our kids. The inequities are absolutey gross, previous supreme court ruling or not. The numbers are just WAY off and I'm disgusted that Norwalk gets treated as badly as we do. It's pretty simple math. We are getting screwed.

Really, Tim? How should she be charged then? What should her punishment be for killing someone? A slap on the back of her hands and "don't do it again"? Seriously - I'd like to know how you feel this should be resolved. View Comment
'Process' or not, pleading "not guilty" is a real slap in the face to those of us who knew and loved Ken. It's an insult and I'm disgusted. View Comment
I am SO sick and tired of hearing about all of this crap. Don't see headlines like this in the immediate surrounding towns, do ya? Scratching my head and trying to figure out why I'm still residing in this falling-apart city. If the housing market wasn't such shite..... sighhhh. View Comment
