Dobbs Ferry Locals Taking Advantage of Weather

With the weather in Dobbs Ferry creeping into the 80’s this weekend, local parks and fields have slowly started to fill up.  People all around town are getting ready for summer and the Memorial Day weekend.  While some are at work and others are out in the sun, a select few are doing both this summer.

Darryl Hendrick and Lucy Messerschmidt are personal trainers and enjoy the benefit of being able to do both at the same time.  Hendrick and Messerschmidt were enjoying the sunny weather outside on Thursday in a local park playing baseball while one of their clients was in a training session.

“We try to train our clients outside,” Hendrick said.  “We’re personal trainers that just opened up in Dobbs Ferry.”

As the weather continues to become increasingly friendlier to residents, more people take to the streets and the hiking trails for exercise.

“They run on the Aqueduct a lot,” Hendrick said.  “They run past our studio all the time.”

Locals can be seen running or walking along trails like the Old Croton Aqueduct throughout the year, but summer brings out the largest consistent crowd.

“[I come out] a couple times a week, biking and running and walking,” said Hastings-on-Hudson resident Jessie Spiro.  “[I’ve been doing it] since I moved to Hastings, for about three years.”

The warm weather in Dobbs Ferry will continue on the current trend this weekend with temperatures in the high 70’s to mid 80’s all weekend.  An up to date weather forecast can be found here .  Local schools will break for vacation soon too, which means summer is right around the corner.
