DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Rain or shine the Dobbs Ferry summer music series refuses to be denied. After rain moved the concert into the community center, Susan Keith and her husband James Kiberd pulled up a couch and sat in the back of the room to enjoy the concert.
"We love it," Keith said. "It's hard when it's raining like this, there's really no comparison to the whole ambience of outside."
Even though it was pouring just outside the community center on Wednesday, Kiberd was all smiles as he continued to paint just as he does at each and every concert. Kiberd, an actor by trade, pulled up a table and set down his water colors and brushes and went to work as Carrie Jackson and Her Trio played some relaxing jazz music in the background.
Jackson let her trio of jazz musicians warm up for a few minutes as the crowd enjoyed dinner and drinks. After a few drum solos and cheers from the crowd, Jackson walked up to the microphone, thanked the audience and took it from there.
There were some unexpected advantages to having a concert like this in such a small area.
"You hear the music really well, you can really, really hear it," Keith said. "It's a great thing to do at the end of the day. It's relaxing."
