Ardsley Teen Raising Money For His Single Mom With Cancer

ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- A 16-year-old Ardsley High School junior has turned to the Internet to help raise money for his mother, who is battling terminal cancer.

Ram Hoobraj has turned to the Internet in hopes of helping his family whose mother is dealing with terminal cancer.

Ram Hoobraj has gone to the crowd funding site, Go Fund Me, to see if the Internet will help him to raise money in the face of the financial crisis the family is facing due to the cost of her treatments.

According to his Go Fund Me page his mother has terminal cancer and is only expected to live 18 months.

"My mom Shivonie knows that she is one of the strongest yet compassionate, loving, caring individual whom you meet once and never forget. She is always there when you need her with open arms and pure love," Hoobraj wrote in the introduction to his Go Fund Me.

Since Aug. 20, Hoobraj has raised more than $22,000 which has helped to get the three person family into a temporary home which allows them to keep the dog they took into foster in 2014.

The Go Fund Me site is still running, and Hoobraj has expressed his gratitude to those who have donated.
