High Winds Cause Power Outages In Rivertowns

UPDATE, 9 p.m.: Most power was restored to Ardsley residents by 9 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Con Edison. There were eight households awaiting power, though Con Edison did not provide a restoration time.

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – More than 800 residents in Ardsley and about 20 residents in Hastings lost power Tuesday afternoon after storms rolled through the Rivertowns

The outages began with 300 residents losing power at about 4 p.m., Ardsley Village Manager George Calvi said in an email sent out to the village.

By 7 p.m. two pockets of outages were reported in Ardsley, totaling more than 800 residents, according to the outage map provided by Con Edison.

Hastings also sent out a village-wide email warning residents of the severe weather.

Officials asked residents to contact Con Edison to report outages, downed power lines or service restorations by using the company website or calling 1-800-752-6633.

“Depending on the severity of storm damage, crews will give priority to restoring service lines that will provide power to the most customers as quickly as possible, then move on to restore smaller groups and individual customers who are without power,” a Con Edison representative said in a press release.

Officials urged residents to avoid downed power lines, stay indoors and check weather updates regularly.
