DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Gas seekers Thursday from as far away as Brooklyn lined Ashford Avenue in Dobbs Ferry to fill their tanks as gas supplies dwindled and power outages closed some stations in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

"I started looking for gas this morning in Brooklyn and just kept going until I reached here," Adrian Noel said as he filled his car with $110 worth of gasoline at the Dobbs Ferry Mobil station. "I wanted to be sure I had a full tank for the next few days. Where is this anyway?"

When told he was in Dobbs Ferry, Noel laughed and turned to help a woman fill her tank. Customers waited patiently -- as long as an hour -- at the corner of Ashford Avenue and Broadway while the Getty station across the street was void of customers after having depleted its supply.

In Ardsley, where the Sunoco gas station in the village was without power and unable to pump gas from its tanks, the Getty station at the corner of Saw Mill River Road and Ashford Avenue also was waiting for delivery.

"We have this station and the one in Dobbs Ferry," attendant Sam Nik said as cars pulled in and then out of the station. "We ran out Wednesday and are waiting for gas because the places in New Jersey had problems getting the trucks out. But I have no power in my house in Dobbs Ferry. When is that coming back on?"

Two gas stations in Hastings-on-Hudson along Warburton and Farragut avenues already were emptied of their supplies. The village released a notice advising gas seekers to visit the nearest station in Yonkers at Executive Boulevard and Broadway. Stations in the north Yonkers area also had lines waiting for fill-ups.

Robert Vegas, of Ossining, said he wandered around the Rivertowns on his way to Yonkers looking for gas.

"Some stations have no power and others are out of gas," Vegas said. "I'm glad I found this one in Dobbs. At least I'll have gas for the weekend."
