HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Sophie Kontos, of Hastings-on-Hudson, died on Sunday, July 5. She was 96.
Kontos was born on Sept. 13, 1918, to Emmanuel and Diamond Karas in Thomasville, Conn.
Kontos is survived by two children, Orsa Manousos and her husband, Anthony, and Michael John and his wife, Jorie; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; four brothers, Nicholas, Angelo, Charles, James Karas and her sister, Olga Loukrezis.
Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at Prophet Elias Church at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Prophet Elias Church or The Andrus Home.
