Cassell and Flynn are running to keep their current seats on the Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees, while O’Donnell will fill the seat of David Koenigsberg, who chose not to seek another two-year term.
Cassell, who retired from the entertainment industry after 40 years, has lived in Dobbs Ferry for 11 years and is seeking her third term.
Cassell, who is the board liaison to the conservation advisory board and the traffic and wildlife committees, said she wants to remain on the board to make sure local projects are finished correctly and with the best interests of her constituents at mind.
“The biggest issue, besides traffic, is over development,” Cassell told the Daily Voice. “I believe that we need development but it should work for the Village and not overwhelm it.”
Cassell is most proud of the work she has done regarding traffic, pedestrian and bike safety; introducing the Complete Streets resolution; and procuring a Safe Routes to School grant. She is currently working on developing a parking management program for the downtown.
O’Donnell, who has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Sacred Heart University, a bachelors and masters in nursing from Pace University, as well as a doctor of nursing from Yale University.
He has lived in the village for 23 years and is a retired nursing professor at Pace University.
Prior to that he served as a registered nurse in the neurosurgical ICU and spent 15 years in market/social research at Yankelovich. He was appointed to the Dobbs Ferry Board of Education, then elected four times and has served as trustee, vice president and president.
O’Donnell has a doctorate in nursing science from Yale University and a master's and bachelor's of science in nursing from Pace University.
He is proud of his work introducing educational technology into the school district and professional technological development for teachers. The biggest issues in Dobbs Ferry, according to O’Donnell, are development, taxes and environmental changes that save money while reducing energy use.
He is also a member of several groups and organizations among them: the Board of Clearwater, Dobbs Ferry Energy Task Force and the Community Advisory Committee at Children's Village.
