Katharine Berman was one of the 300 students chosen as a semi-finalist in the prestigious competition. The selection came Jan. 6.
Her project is on the effects of calreticulin mutations on pathogenesis of myeloproliferative neoplasms.
Each semi-finalist receives a $1,000 award from the Intel Foundation with an additional $1,000 going to his or her school.
Forty of the semi-finalists will be named Intel Science Talent Search finalists Jan. 20.
Finalists receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., March 10 to 16th, where they will compete for more than $1 million in awards.
