Earlier this year I received some complaints from area residents about the decision of Westchester Community College to discontinue its continuing education program. The college had taken over the very popular and well run Inter-Village Continuing Education program that Helen Anbinder of Dobbs Ferry set up years ago.

I am writing this letter to congratulate the Dobbs Ferry School District for not giving up on continuing education. They are sponsoring a Hudson River Community Education program that is offered to residents of all river villages, not just those who live in Dobbs Ferry.

Sylvia Fassler-Wallach is doing an outstanding job offering members of the community with a terrific range of life long learn opportunity classes - ranging from art, music, dance, health, fitness, cooking, technology, social media, and more.

I interviewed Fassler-Wallach and Lisa Brady, Dobbs Ferry School Superintendent, on my WVOX radio program recently and was impressed with the quality of the instructors and class offerings.

If you are planning to spend April in Paris you can sign up for a beginner course in French. If you love history then take a history of Islam course. Want to relax? Take a ballroom dancing course. They also offer driver's education, the art of making piñatas and, a stained glass course.

For more info call 693-1500 ext. 3148.

I hope all the school districts will actively participate in promoting the classes in their mailings to the community. I also want to encourage residents to say thank you to the Dobbs Ferry School District's leadership on making continuing education possible.
