A crash with at least one injury reported that initially took out the left lane caused gridlock at the start of the span of the new Tappan Zee Bridge during the Thursday evening commute.

The 5 p.m. crash in Tarrytown was on the northbound (Rockland-bound) side of I-87 with stopped traffic at the scene and gridlock for several miles back to the I-287 merger for nearly an hour until the lane reopened.
